Contract Resources' compelling, environmentally friendly, local solution to Australia’s LNG waste processing requirements has attracted its first client, with Woodside signing-up to a seven-year deal.
The agreement will see Woodside utilising our new multi-million plant in Karratha, Western Australia, to process spent catalyst and hazardous waste by-products which are removed from the oil and gas production stream process.
Our secure storage, processing and purification facility will be the first of its kind in Australia, and construction is expected to commence shortly.
Senior Vice President of Woodside’s Australia Operating Unit, Niall Myles, said: “Woodside is pleased to be the foundation client for Contract Resource’s new treatment plant, which will provide an innovative and environmentally sustainable solution for the LNG industry in Australia. This will mean employment opportunities for our local community in Karratha, through the construction and operation of the plant.”
Construction of the plant is expected to be completed in early 2018 and plant operations begin immediately after with the processing of Woodside’s materials.
Contract Resources’ Executive Officer, Ivor Ferguson, said: “Woodside’s input and support for the development of this plant has been invaluable and we are delighted to have them on board as our foundation client. This new facility will enable LNG waste materials to be processed locally and in a timely and environmentally friendly manner; and eliminates the risks LNG gas producers are currently facing, with local long term storage and international transportation and disposal of hazardous waste by-products.”
